Tree Service-Hiring tips for First Timers

On paper, hiring a provider of a tree service in Colorado should be easy. A homeowner can seek recommendations from friends or neighbors, check if that service provider is available, and then hire that company. In actuality, however, those easy tasks involve a lot of hard work.

However, hiring a tree services provider does not have to be that hard. Although the homeowner does have a good chance of finding a good provider through referrals, he or she can even better the odds by following a few hiring tips.

First, the homeowner ought to ask for a detailed written estimate. The estimate should spell out what the job entails, such as cutting branches off standing trees or sawing felled trees into logs, and what each task costs. Assuming both parties agree on the estimate and the job, the next thing is to ask for a written contract.

Afterwards, the homeowner should ask for certificates of insurance and for workman’s compensation. Both certificates tell the homeowner that the provider has insurance to protect him or her from liability should an injury occur on his or her property. The certificates should contain contact information of the service provider's insurers, and the homeowner should make an effort to verify if said insurance policies are still valid.
